Abstract

The personal status is very important in Iran's substantive law and
the private international law. From the perspective of substantive law,
the personal status of Iranians who are Shiite is subject to Civil Law,
but the personal status of other minorities is subject to their own
religious rules and regulations. From the perspective of private
international law, Article 7 of Civil Law provides that foreign
nationals who are resident in Iran are subject to their own countries'
laws. Thus it is quite important to determine the scope of personal status and its relevant issues. In this article, the scope of personal
statue in examined by reviewing the different views and doctrines
presented in this respect.
